When prompt assessment by an ENT specialist is needed first
In the following cases, please see an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist as soon as possible. Prompt assessment and treatment are especially important for sudden hearing loss.
- Sudden loss of hearing in one or both ears
- Tinnitus with severe dizziness or vomiting
- Hearing a pulsing, heartbeat-like 'thumping' sound
- Facial paralysis, severe headache, or ear pain or discharge occurring together

About care
If you have had, or plan to have, an ENT assessment, we discuss on the basis of those results whether Korean medicine care such as acupuncture, pharmacopuncture or herbal medicine may help. If there is also tension in the neck, shoulders or jaw, we look at that as well.
Tinnitus and hearing loss have many causes, so the same result cannot be expected in every case. MODNI does not promise a cure or recovery of hearing, and even during care we will recommend reassessment by an ENT specialist if needed.
Frequently asked questions
Should I see an ENT specialist first?
If you have not had a hearing test, we recommend having one first. In particular, if your hearing has dropped suddenly, please go to an ENT specialist right away.
